Elon Musk's X is set to roll out two tiers of premium subscriptions.

X Trials $1 access fee in New Zealand and Philippines; introduces 'Read-Only' mode for non-subscribers.

After advertiser Pullback, Musk pushes for revenue with $8 'Blue Check' service and advertiser discounts.

Elon Musk announced on Friday that the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) is gearing up to introduce two distinct tiers of premium subscriptions.

In a message on X, Musk detailed, "One tier will be a more affordable option with all features intact, yet without any reduction in advertisements. The other tier will be pricier but will offer an ad-free experience."

The specifics of these subscription plans remain undisclosed by Musk.
Earlier in the week, X began charging newcomers a $1 fee in New Zealand and the Philippines as a trial for platform access.
Those new users who chose not to subscribe will have a "read-only" mode, enabling them to read posts, view videos, and follow other accounts, as stated on the company's official site.
The novel "Not A Bot" subscription approach is designed to curb spam, bot activity, and any undue manipulation of the platform.
After Musk acquired the platform in October 2022, his swift modifications, which included significant layoffs and dissolving content moderation teams, resulted in many brands' pauses in advertising on the forum.

Musk conceded that these changes impacted the platform's revenue stream and attributed this downturn to activist pressure on advertisers.

To rejuvenate revenue streams, Musk introduced a $8 monthly charge for the 'blue check' subscription service and has been trying to entice advertisers back to X by presenting them with promotional discounts.
