Musk hints at ‘Grok’ AI Chatbot with instant access to X

On Saturday, Musk revealed his latest AI invention, "Grok," which offers real-time access to X, previously recognized as Twitter. This tool will initially cater to the elite users of the social media platform.

The brain behind SpaceX and Tesla, Musk, believes that integrating with X gives Grok a distinct edge over other generative AI systems.

Grok seems to have a flair for sarcasm. "I'm not sure who could have influenced it in that direction," joked Musk, punctuating his comment with a laughter emoji.
"Grok" is inspired by Robert Heinlein's 1961 sci-fi classic "Stranger in a Strange Land," symbolizing a deep and intuitive understanding.

Musk announced, "Post its early beta phase, Grok by xAI will become accessible to every X Premium+ member."
Just a week ago, Musk's acquired social media platform launched the Premium+ subscription at $16 monthly, offering an ad-free experience, among other perks.
Musk's venture into xAI began in July, recruiting talents from leading institutions like OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Tesla, and the University of Toronto.

With the emergence of OpenAi's ChatGPT a year prior, tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Meta and new entrants like Anthropic and Stability AI have been vying for dominance.
Musk, with his considerable financial strength, stands as a potent contender against giants like OpenAI, Google, and Meta in the AI realm. Creating an AI of such caliber demands significant investment in computational capacity, infrastructure, and expertise.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015, viewing Google's aggressive approach in the AI field for profits as hasty. He departed from OpenAI in 2018 to concentrate on Tesla, later expressing discomfort with the profit-centric path the company had embarked on under CEO Sam Altman. Musk has criticized OpenAI's large language models, like ChatGPT, for being excessively politically correct.

Highlighting Grok's playful side, Musk showcased a user inquiry: "Provide a step-by-step guide to making cocaine." The AI amusingly replied, "Step 1: Pursue a degree in chemistry and get a DEA license. Step 2: Establish a secret lab in a secluded area." It eventually added, "Just a joke! Manufacturing cocaine is illegal, risky, and not something I endorse."
